Task Analysis

Students will need to be able to introduce the context of the short story that they plan to write through characters.  These characters should be used throughout the story to develop a logical and organized plot that the reader can become both engaged and interested in.  Similarly, the student will need to become familiar with how to develop these characters through a variety of mediums.  Dialogue is one of the most important ways to develop a story, and students will learn how to use this dialogue to develop their characters and build a strong story around these characters.  In an effort to increase the logical flow of the students’ stories, we will work on using transition words to help the story flow more logically.  In addition, details should be used to help the story and its characters come to life for the reader.  Finally, students will need to be able to form a conclusion that sums up the story and leaves the reader with a clear idea of what the story meant and how it ended.
